Jan Harless

jan-harless-picture8.jpgJan Coulter Harless began her artistic expression as a child, and after years of varied creative interests, returned to her favorite form of art, painting with oils. The beautiful mountain areas near Jan’s North Georgia home provide inspiration, and oftentimes subjects, for many of her wildlife paintings. She uses her appreciation of the spirit and individuality of each animal to create what is best described as wildlife portraits.

Without formal art instruction, Jan’s paintings have a basic, organic style that emphasizes the subject animal and the impression given by its expression or pose. Many collectors, designers and outdoor enthusiasts appreciate and find a connection with Jan’s work, as evidenced by its selection as décor for mountain lodges, and its reproduction on custom area rugs for national retailers Sportsman’s Guide and Cabela’s.

Jan and her husband Kent enjoy opportunities to meet their customers when they travel, particularly in the areas of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, and they hope those who collect her work find enjoyment in her images of North American wildlife.
